Tata Group seeks additional 80 acres in Gujarat for Dholera chip plant expansion
Tata Electronics is seeking an additional 80 acres in Gujarat to expand its Dholera semiconductor chip plant, including housing and amenities for thousands of employees.
Apart from the initially allocated 100 acres of land, the Gujarat government has promised to provide an additional 63-acre parcel to Tata Electronics for expansion purposes, based on project requirements.
According to a Business Standard report, Tata Group is requesting 80 more acres to further expand its mega semiconductor chip plant in Dholera. Earlier, the government had already allocated a 20-acre parcel to the company.
The additional land will be used to construct housing facilities for nearly 4,000 employees. These facilities are expected to include studio apartments, shopping complexes, sports arenas, and other amenities to ensure a comfortable living environment.
The Dholera semiconductor plant is India’s first chip fabrication unit, approved by the Centre in February last year as part of the India Semiconductor Mission. Work on the plant is expected to commence by 2027.
This expansion reflects Tata Electronics’ commitment to building not just advanced manufacturing facilities, but also supporting infrastructure for employees, creating a holistic ecosystem for the semiconductor workforce.
