Dholera: Tokyo Electron, a leading Japanese supplier of semiconductor production equipment, is preparing to establish offices in Gujarat and Assam to provide support for Tata Electronics’ upcoming fab and assembly/test units, according to a news report by ET.
According to ET, the company’s Dholera office will be set up in sync with Tata’s fab project timeline, ensuring the infrastructure is ready to support India’s first semiconductor fabrication facility. The Dholera facility is expected to accommodate 200–300 engineers, along with training infrastructure and a warehouse for key spare parts.
Meanwhile, in Assam, where Tata is building an assembly and testing plant, Tokyo Electron plans to open a smaller, scaled-down office to align with the needs of that facility.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Japanese premier Shigeru Ishiba, recently toured Tokyo Electron’s factory in Japan. Modi highlighted semiconductors as a core pillar of India-Japan cooperation, stressing the growing role of Indian youth in this critical sector.
