With a semiconductor plant already in the pipeline in Gujarat, the principal secretary of the Science and Technology department of the state, IAS Mona Khandhar said that Dholera will be a semiconductor city, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India as a semiconductor hub.
Khandhar, welcoming the investors and partners of the semiconductors at the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2024, said that the state has already provided facilities for the industry in Sanand.

Peters Chen of TECC explained the trade and relations between India and Taiwan. He emphasized on trade that picked up from 2001 to 2023 between the countries. He said that the direct investment of Taiwan in India has reached $4 billion, and Taiwan has expertise in Semiconductor industries. He also welcomed Gujarat to Taiwan for trade.
Noting the suggestions from the investors, Gujarat Chief Secretary Raj Kumar said that he had noted the suggestions for clean water, uninterrupted power supply, logistics facilities, ports, residential colonies, world-class schools, and direct flights to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. “We are making an industrial landscape in Gujarat, and connectivity of the domestic industrial supply chain for semiconductor production.”
“Gujarat is providing dedicated roads, ports, and logistics facilities for them,” he added.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in his concluding speech said, “We need to make a strong semiconductor operation in Gujarat. Gujarat made a dedicated semiconductor policy in 2022 and within a week, Micron Technology approached us for an investment.
“We provided them with the facility in Sanand, doing the right thing at the right time, following our PM’s vision to make India the world’s third-largest economy. Dholera will also have the same infrastructure for the semiconductor industry,” said the CM.
