Smart Industrial City: 12 new industrial cities will be built in different states like Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Dholera in Gujarat to promote local manufacturing in the country. Regarding this, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said, 'Two such smart industrial cities are being developed in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. In which the Union Cabinet has been approached regarding new cities. On the other hand, with 12 new smart industrial cities coming up, there will be a total of 20 smart cities in the country.'
Singh said, 'Eight such cities are already vigorously preparing for implementation. Cities including Dholera in Gujarat, Arik in Maharashtra, Vikram Udyogpuri in Madhya Pradesh and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh are in the process of developing their infrastructure to make them smart along with allotting plots for industries. Similarly, the government is working to develop basic infrastructure such as vehicular transport, water and power supply in four other industrial cities.
12 new smart industrial cities will be prepared
12 new industrial cities have been announced in the recently announced budget. A total of 20 cities will become smart with the creation of 12 new cities known as industrial smart cities. In which plots have been allotted after setting up the infrastructure. Environmental clearance is taken while building these smart cities.
Approached Union Cabinet regarding new cities
Singh said, 'DPIIT is approaching the Union Cabinet regarding new cities. With plans for smart cities ready, the state government also owns the land. In which special purpose vehicle (SPV) equity has to be allowed.
